2023 Election: Fani-Kayode Mocks Obasanjo for 'Plunging into the Ring of Fire'
Former Minister of Aviation and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Femi Fani-Kayode, has taken a swipe at former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his call for the cancellation of the February 23rd presidential and National Assembly elections in disputed areas.

Obasanjo had urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the elections in areas where there were reported cases of violence and irregularities. He alleged that INEC officials had been compromised by the manual transmission of results, which he claimed had been manipulated and doctored.

Reacting to Obasanjo's call on Twitter, Fani-Kayode accused the former President of choosing the path of "lawlessness and anarchy." He argued that Obasanjo became an interested party after declaring support for the Labour Party's Peter Obi and, as such, lost the right to act as an independent statesman.

Fani-Kayode added that Obasanjo's attempt to scuttle democracy had wiped away the good he had done in the past. He described Obasanjo's action as "plunging into the ring of fire" and warned against acts that could threaten Nigeria's democracy.

Obasanjo's call for the cancellation of the elections has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some supporting his position while others criticize it. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has since rejected the call for the cancellation of the elections, stating that the elections were free, fair, and credible.
