2023 Election: Jonathan Votes in Bayelsa, Warns Against Vote Buying
Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, have exercised their civic responsibility by casting their votes at Otuoke Unit 39, Ward 13, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state. During the exercise, Jonathan warned against vote buying, reminding politicians that no political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian.

The former leader urged politicians to conduct themselves in a peaceful and dignified manner during elections, reminding them that no one owns Nigeria. He emphasized that elections must be conducted peacefully to preserve the dignity of the country and its citizens. He urged politicians to use their resources to benefit humanity rather than buying votes or causing trouble.

Jonathan stressed that holding political office should not diminish the value of humanity, but rather, should improve the welfare of the people. He urged politicians to conduct themselves in a manner that would reflect positively on politics, highlighting that politics is a noble profession that should be seen as such.

Jonathan's warning against vote buying is crucial, as it is a common practice during elections in Nigeria. Vote buying has been identified as a major threat to Nigeria's democratic process, as it undermines the credibility of elections and undermines the will of the people.

As Nigerians continue to exercise their civic duty in the ongoing elections, it is important for politicians and stakeholders to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes peace, fairness, and transparency. Jonathan's call for peaceful conduct during elections and his warning against vote buying should serve as a reminder to all stakeholders of the need to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
