2023 Election: Obi dominates Anambra, wins 21 LGAs, silences Soludo and rivals
In a surprising turn of events, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, emerged victorious in the Anambra State elections held last Saturday, defeating notable candidates such as the incumbent Governor of the state, Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, Andy Uba, and others.

The election results showed that Labour Party won by a wide margin, leaving behind the People's Democratic Party (PDP), APGA, and the All Progressives Congress (APC), with none of the parties able to secure up to 10,000 votes.

The collation officer in the state, Prof. Nnenna Oti, declared Obi as the winner with 584,621 votes. In comparison, PDP's Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, received 9,036 votes, and APGA's Prof. Peter Umeadi garnered 7,388 votes.

One of the most notable wins for the Labour Party was in Aguata Local Government Area, which is also the hometown of Governor Charles Soludo. The party won overwhelmingly, securing 37,478 votes, while APGA trailed behind with only 712 out of the total 40,387 votes cast.

Obi's victory has left many shocked, especially given the popularity of the incumbent Governor and his party, APGA, in the state. However, his triumph has proven that the LP has gained considerable traction in the state, and their message of change and progress resonated with the voters.
