2023 Election: PDP Wins 2 Seats in Akwa Ibom, Akpabio Returns to Senate
Former Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs and ex-presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Godswill Akpabio, emerged victorious in the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District elections and is set to return to the Senate.

According to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Collation Officer, Professor Anthony Udoh, Akpabio polled 115,401 votes to defeat his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, who secured 69,838 votes. Udoh also stated that Akpabio had met all the conditions to be declared the winner.

Reacting to his victory, Senator Akpabio thanked the people of his constituency for their support and promised to represent them well in the Senate. He expressed gratitude to the electorate for rejecting monetary inducements from his opponents during the elections.

Although the APC won the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, the PDP claimed victory in the remaining two senatorial seats of Akwa Ibom South and Akwa Ibom North East. This brings the total number of senatorial seats won by the PDP in Akwa Ibom to two, while the APC won one.
