2023 Election: Sokoto Women Told To Wait For Men To Vote Before Exercising Voting Rights
At the Gidan Yumfa polling unit in Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Wamakko LGA, Sokoto State, women are being subjected to gender discrimination during the ongoing elections. According to reports, women are being told to wait for men to vote before they can exercise their voting rights.

This discriminatory practice is a violation of the right to vote and equal participation in the electoral process. It is unacceptable and has no place in a democratic society.

It is important that electoral officials and security agencies take action to put an end to this practice and ensure that all eligible voters, regardless of gender, are able to exercise their voting rights freely and without discrimination.

This incident highlights the need for continued efforts to promote gender equality and eliminate all forms of discrimination against women in Nigeria. Women must be given equal opportunities to participate in all spheres of life, including politics and governance.
