2023 Election: Tinubu sues LP and PDP to prevent collation result halt
SHARE
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside his Vice Presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, has taken legal action to prevent the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from interfering with the collation and announcement of the results of the presidential election held on February 25th. The legal action was filed at the Federal High Court in Kano and is identified as FHC/KN/CS/43/2023.

The lawsuit involves two defendants - the Action Alliance and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The plaintiffs' goal is to restrain LP and PDP from halting the collation and announcement of the election results, thereby ensuring that the electoral process is conducted in accordance with the law.

The decision to initiate the lawsuit arose from concerns that the LP and PDP may attempt to disrupt the collation and announcement of election results, which could lead to a violation of the electoral law. Therefore, the APC and its candidates are seeking legal protection to ensure that the election results are announced in a lawful and transparent manner.

The lawsuit represents a critical effort to protect the integrity of the election and ensure that the votes of the Nigerian people are counted and respected. The case is expected to proceed in the coming weeks, and its outcome will be closely watched by Nigerians and the international community.
