2023 Election: Unizik Lecturer Clinches Awka North/South Federal Constituency for LP

Prof Lilian Orogbu, the Labour Party's candidate for Awka North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra State, has emerged victorious in the election held on Saturday. 

The Returning Officer for the constituency, Dr Uche Nriagu, announced the result at the INEC Collation Center in Amawbia-Awka. 

Orogbu garnered 34,713 votes, beating her closest rival, Obi Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who secured 24,814 votes. 

The other candidates scored as follows: Emeka Igwe of the PDP got 21,850 votes, while YPP scored 2047, NNPP 244, ADC 108, NRM 33, and SDP 43. 

Orogbu is a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and is the first woman to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.
