2023: NSCDC Deploys 4,000 Personnel for Kaduna Election Security
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 4,000 personnel to Kaduna State in order to provide security for the presidential and national assembly elections scheduled for Saturday.

This was revealed by DSC Habeeb Badamasi, the spokesman for the NSCDC Kaduna Command, in a statement issued on Friday.

Commandant Idris Adah expressed the hope that the massive deployment of personnel would ensure the safety of life and property in the state. He appealed to residents to come out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote without fear.

In order to adequately safeguard the electoral process, Mr Adah revealed that the command had formed a monitoring team that would go around the 23 council areas of the state.

The primary objective of this team is to ensure the security of voters and election officials, as well as to track and apprehend anyone engaging in election malpractice.

The NSCDC is committed to the preservation of peace and security in Kaduna State and beyond and has taken all the necessary steps to ensure the security of Saturday’s election.

The NSCDC urges all eligible citizens to come out and exercise their right to vote without fear or intimidation.

The NSCDC also enjoins all people of goodwill to appeal for calm and peaceful conduct during the election and to discourage any form of violence and electoral malpractice. It is only through peaceful elections that the nation can truly experience the benefits of democracy.

“We have deployed the Anti-Vandals Squad to all critical national assets and infrastructure in the state to protect the assets against vandalism by criminal elements before, during and after the elections,” added Mr Adah.

The commandant also revealed that undercover operatives would work in the background to support the team and other security agencies with credible intelligence to tackle any security issue.

Mr Adah advised residents to provide useful information about criminal elements and those involved in election malpractice for appropriate action.
