The All Progressives Congress claims that the opposition parties are unfairly harassing Bola Tinubu, who is the party's nominee for president. Before the presidential election on Saturday, the APC stated that its message of "renewed hope" had a strong resonance with Nigerians.
"We put a lot of effort into staying on topic. But the opposition forces never stopped making absurd, unfounded, and frequently made-up claims about Senator Bola Tinubu, according to Dele Alake, the APC Presidential Campaign Council's special adviser on media and strategic communication.
"Despite all the nasty strategies of the opposition, we stayed focused on our message of prosperity that will be supported by the accomplishments of the current APC government. When he concluded the party's presidential campaign on Wednesday in Abuja, Mr Alake said, "With a strong commitment by Tinubu and Shettima to improve on areas that require stronger and better governance outcomes."
He said that the party's massive gathering in Lagos served as a suitable capstone to the 2022 presidential campaign, which officially kicked off on January 10.
He claimed that Mr Tinubu started a "painstaking" and "arduous quest" to reach out to a cross-section of Nigeria's civil populace and constituency holders from that point, 14 months ago.
“This he did through a nationwide consultation ahead of his party primary. He met with former leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, party stakeholders and members across the country and intimated them about his vision, capabilities and readiness to serve our country,” Mr Alake explained.
According to him, the APC PCC and Mr Tinubu “redefined, set new tone and template for a presidential campaign in Nigeria,” and “our campaign introduced townhall interactive sessions into this campaign to take our message directly to the people across various sectors and segments of the society.”
He added that the town hall sessions became specialised focus group sessions to connect with the people almost one-on-one.
“Beginning from mid-October, with his acceptance of the invitation by Northern leaders under the umbrella of the Arewa Joint Committee. Tinubu and Shettima conducted over 15 town hall meetings around the country,” Mr Alake told journalists. “They met with the organised private sector, youth groups, traders and market women, Labour Unions, Christian Association of Nigeria and other Christian bodies, Islamic groups and leaders.”
