The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to obey the Supreme Court's decision and order Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to halt the present currency swap programme, which has caused tremendous misery for Nigerians.
Salihu Moh Lukman, a member of the ruling party's National Working Committee (NWC) and the Zonal Chairman for the North West, questioned why the party had not called a special meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC) in light of the serious problems that are threatening its electoral prospects.
He expressed confidence that the APC will win the elections, but he also remarked that the party would need to work even more to make sure that Bola Tinubu's next administration had more open ears for Nigerians and other party leaders.
He prayed that the Tinubu-led APC administration will far outperform the one presided over by President Buhari if he were to win.
The former director-general of the APC Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) also issued a warning, saying that the overbearing control of government institutions by so-called cabals would endure until party organs were seized to be platforms for decision-making.
“In all of these, it needs to be clearly stated that throughout the tenure of President Buhari, nothing tests his credential as a converted democrat more than the need to demonstrate more listening ears and compassion for the plight of Nigerians. “As a converted democrat, which I believe he is, President Buhari needs to demonstrate that by respecting the Supreme Court judgement and direct the CBN to end the current madness that imposes Naira scarcity in the country and untold hardship for millions of Nigerians,” he wrote.
