Buhari: Nigeria’s Capacity To Respond To Health Emergencies Growing

Yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari stated that with the help of her friends, Nigeria is becoming more prepared and capable of responding to public health catastrophes.

He addressed during a meeting with Gambo Aliyu, the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Molly Phee, the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and Mary Beth Leonard, the American Ambassador to Nigeria.

Buhari gave the Secretary to the Government of the Federation's transition committee instructions to make sure the HIV program's accomplishments were amply noted in transition notes and a sustainability roadmap was developed for the incoming administration.

He declared that until the disease was eradicated as a hazard to public health, Nigeria will continue to give the battle against HIV/AIDS top priority.

According to Buhari, the federal government would keep collaborating with the Nigerian Governors Forum and the organised private sector to offer sufficient funding and long-term support for the country's HIV response.

Phee praised Buhari for deciding against running for a third term in power and for his dedication to holding free and fair elections in the next general elections.

“You’re a leader for the sub-region, for the continent and the world,” she said.
