Chimaroke Nnamani: I remain Enugu East PDP senatorial candidate

Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, the former governor of Enugu State and current senator representing Enugu East in the Senate, has urged his constituents to come out and vote for him in large numbers in the upcoming elections.

Nnamani's party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recently expelled him, a decision he has strongly opposed.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Nnamani stated that his election bid is not threatened or shaken, and he urged his supporters to disregard any rumours to the contrary.

He assured them that he is mentally and emotionally ready for the election on Saturday.

Nnamani also promised to continue representing his constituents effectively in the Senate and to ensure that Enugu East receives its fair share of the benefits of democracy.

He emphasised that he would be fair and just to everyone and that his mission and purpose in the Senate would always be to address the interests and concerns of his people.

In his statement, Nnamani stressed the importance of following the law and called for a smooth and peaceful election process.

He urged his supporters to conduct themselves in a peaceful and lawful manner and to avoid any actions that could disrupt the electoral process.

Nnamani's call for his constituents to vote for him comes at a crucial time in Nigeria's political landscape, with several states gearing up for elections in the coming weeks.

The Enugu East Senatorial District election is one of the most closely watched, with Nnamani seeking to retain his seat despite his expulsion from the PDP.

The senator's call for his people to follow the law and participate in a peaceful election process is particularly relevant, given the history of violence and voter intimidation in Nigerian elections.

The statement underscores the need for a peaceful and transparent electoral process, where citizens can freely exercise their right to vote without fear of violence or intimidation.

Nnamani's statement also reflects the ongoing power struggles within Nigeria's political parties, with many politicians defecting from one party to another in search of greater power and influence.

The senator's expulsion from the PDP highlights the internal divisions within the party and the broader challenges facing Nigeria's democratic institutions.
