In Abuja, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) has annulled several police officers' retirements.
Suit No. NICN/ABJ/51/2022 - ACP ADESINA OLUNLADE & ANOR (For themselves and on behalf of all Course 21 (Force Entrants) of the Police Academy students) vs. POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION & 2 ORS was the name of the case. His Lordship, Hon. Justice O. O. Oyewumi was in charge of the matter.
The Police Service Commission (PSC) decided that all members of Course 21 will be appointed for the first time on August 15, 2002, and the court ruled that this decision is still legal.
He, therefore, delayed the retirements of those people who had been in the force for 35 years but hadn't yet reached the obligatory retirement age of 60.
Aba-based attorney Edwin Okoro represented the claims. The police were represented by Joseph Offor, a senior police attorney from the Force Headquarters.
