The current scarcity of fuel and naira notes, according to Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, is the result of saboteurs.
On February 14, Gbajabiamila said this at a political event in Lagos state.
He claimed that some forces had methodically planned the fuel crisis and the ongoing shortage of naira notes in order to undermine the accomplishments of the Buhari administration for political ends. According to him, the House of Representatives is making every effort to relieve the current suffering of the populace as quickly as feasible.

He said the naira swap policy was a well-thought-out plan that has unfortunately been hijacked and politicized. He alleged that some elements had created a crisis around the policy just to stop the All Progressives Congress(APC ) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, from winning the presidential election.
According to him, the plot seemed to be failing as Nigerians are still "keeping faith with the APC and Tinubu in spite of what they were going through."
