Alhassan Adamu, Ward Head of Junction Area in Madalla Town, Niger State, has described how a day-old infant was found on November 19, 2022, at the central mosque's grounds in the area around five in the morning.
He claimed that the imam of the mosque, Malam Musa, had brought to his attention the discovery of a young girl with blood on her dress on the mosque's grounds.
He said that the infant had subsequently been given the name Nihla, which means Joyous in Arabic, and that he had informed the village chief and the district chief of Madalla of this.
Two months later, though, Adamu discussed his difficulties caring for her, including the difficulty of purchasing infant milk despite having previously purchased more than 20 tins.
