High Security as INEC Distributes Sensitive Materials in FCT

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive materials in preparation for Saturday's elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The distribution is taking place amidst tight security at the INEC office in Bwari Area Council.

Sensitive materials, such as ballot papers, result sheets, and BVAS machines, arrived at the office in the early hours of the day.

Chairmen of various political parties were present to monitor the distribution of materials.

INEC’s Assistant Area Officer Admin in the council, Veronica John, stated that there are 1940 polling units across the council and that the distribution of sensitive materials from the Registration Area Centres to the polling units will commence at midnight.

She added that accreditation and voting will occur simultaneously in all the polling units.

The office has received a technical staff that will attend to any issues that may occur with the BVAS machines.

The distribution is being closely monitored by all stakeholders, including party representatives.

The commission is satisfied with the security arrangements and has called on intending voters and residents of the council to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.

Non-sensitive materials, such as generators, mats, chairs, and tables, are among the materials being distributed at the office.

The transparency with which the materials were distributed has been commended by party representatives.
