The North-East Rehabilitation Group, or NERG, has praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for making the area more peaceful. They claim that because of this, they have faith that people will cast ballots in the upcoming general elections.
The group claimed in a news release distributed on Saturday that the Northeasterners are prepared to have a full say in who would lead the nation for the ensuing four years.
According to NERG, a lot of insurgents are giving up because they cannot manage how difficult strategically planned military operations are.
Families were urged to prevent their children from doing activities that would disrupt the calm in the neighbourhood in a press release issued by NERG Coordinator Danladi Gombe.
The group also expressed gratitude to General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defense Staff, and his soldiers for restoring peace and stability as promised.
According to NERG, this is causing local businesses to reopen.
People in the region weren't certain whether they would vote in the 2023 elections three years ago, according to NERG.
The group said, “We are not just happy that economic activities are coming back to our region in full swing. We are glad we can participate fully in the forthcoming general elections without fear.
“This, without a doubt, is attributable to ongoing military operations successfully de-escalating the forces of darkness that held on to our region before this time.
“We are grateful to the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the leadership of Gen. LEO Irabor for the sacrifices been made to keep our region safe, and habitable and creating opportunities for the revival of economic activities.”
The group told the people that they should make sure to vote in all of the elections. They said the military and other security agencies had promised to deal with people who could threaten the polls.
