Peter Obi: I’ll transform Sambisa forest to farmland

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), declared yesterday that he would convert the Sambisa Forest in the Northeast into sizable farmland that would boost the nation's economy.

This was said by Mr Obi at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki during the party's presidential rally.

The chairman of his party, Mr Julius Abure, and Obi's wife, Margret, was present. Obi stated that the main causes of the nation's stagnation were corruption and insecurity. He pledged to take immediate action to address them.

He said that the nation's manufacturing centre would be relocated to the Southeast and that Ebonyi would get assistance in realising its full potential as a rice-growing region.

According to Mr Obi, the Akanu Ibiam International Airport will be constructed in accordance with international standards and act as a hub for travellers entering and leaving the Southeast.

He advised them to vote in the upcoming election in order to rid their nation of dishonest officials whose methods of governance had increased crime, corruption, and unemployment.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and other political parties' supporters were reportedly present during the protest, according to Prime 9ja Online.

APC member Mr Franklin Onwe claimed that Mr Peter Obi embodies the aspirations and concerns of the general populace. Additionally, he stated that although he backs the APC candidates in the state, he is also in favour of the Labour Party's presidential candidate.
