Security Council: Presidential Election Will Hold as Scheduled
The National Security Council has reassured Nigerians that the presidential election scheduled for 2023 will not be disrupted and will hold as planned.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Council said it had received intelligence reports that some individuals and groups were planning to disrupt the election and undermine the democratic process.

“We want to reassure all Nigerians that the presidential election will hold as scheduled,” the Council said. “It is the Council’s duty to protect the entire democratic process, and we will not allow anyone or group of persons to disrupt it.”

The Council noted that it is working with other security and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the election will be secure and peaceful. It also urged all citizens to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

The Council said it is taking all necessary steps to ensure that the election will be free, fair, and credible. It commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of the poll, and for engaging security and law enforcement agencies to protect the polling process.

“We call on all Nigerians to come out to exercise their right to vote on the day of the election,” the Council urged. “We also urge all political parties and candidates to conduct themselves with restraint and respect the rules of the election.”

The Council said it will continue to monitor the election process and take prompt action to ensure its success.
