The party urged all members to have faith in the Udeze-led National Executive of the party for effective service delivery to all the members. The AA National Secretary, Mr James Vernimbe, made the call in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
The FCT high court had earlier dismissed the suit filed by Rufai on March 6, to uphold Udeze-led National Executive. In the judgment, Justice Binta Nyako dismissed Rufai's claims and described his action as an abuse of the court process and forum shopping.
However, the court of Appeal Abuja division on Monday adjourned the case to June 26, for hearing of an appeal filed by Rufai.
Vernimbe, in the statement, noted that the case is challenging the FCT High court judgment that recognises Udeze led National Executive of AA. He urged all Action Alliance faithful across Nigeria and beyond to remain calm, peaceful and united, as the party was repositioning itself at the state level for the March 18 Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections.
The call for unity and calmness was also reiterated by Mr Udeze, the National Chairman of AA. In a statement, Udeze urged all members to remain committed to the party and avoid any action that may disrupt the forthcoming elections.
He assured the party faithful that the leadership was working hard to ensure victory for the party in the upcoming elections.
Udeze stated that the AA remained a strong and formidable party, with a clear vision and mission to provide good governance for Nigerians. He noted that the party had made significant progress in recent times, particularly in the areas of party organisation and structure.
He added that the party had also attracted new members, including prominent politicians and opinion leaders across the country.
The AA National Chairman called on party members to remain focused on the party's goals and aspirations and to avoid any distractions that may hinder the party's progress. He assured members that the party would emerge stronger from the current challenges, and urged them to remain loyal and committed to the party's cause.
Meanwhile, political analysts have described the current court case as a distraction to the party's preparations for the upcoming elections. They noted that the case would require significant time and resources, which would have been better spent on party organisation and mobilisation of voters.
Some analysts also noted that the current case highlighted the need for political parties to put in place effective mechanisms for conflict resolution and management. They observed that the frequent cases of internal party conflicts and disputes were a major challenge to Nigeria's democracy, and called for urgent action to address the issue.
In the same vein, some members of the party have expressed concern over the impact of the current case on the party's image and reputation. They noted that the prolonged legal battle could create the impression that the party was disorganised and lacked effective leadership.
However, other members of the party have expressed confidence in the leadership of Udeze and the party's ability to overcome the current challenge. They noted that the party had faced similar challenges in the past and had emerged stronger from them.
The AA was founded in 2005 and is one of the political parties registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The party has participated in several elections, including the 2019 Presidential Election, where its candidate, Mr Omoyele Sowore, garnered over 33,000 votes. The party is also fielding candidates for the upcoming Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections in
