He said the programme would increase the nutritional intake of the children and boost their academic performance.
Mr Adeleke added that his administration had also made arrangements to provide free uniforms to pupils in public primary and secondary schools.
“This will boost the children’s self-esteem and pride in their schools,” he said.
The governor also said his administration had embarked on the rehabilitation of schools across the state to make them more conducive for learning.
“Over 100 schools have been identified for rehabilitation, and work will commence soon,” he said.
Mr Adeleke added that the state government would also address the issue of teachers’ welfare, which had been neglected for too long.
“We will improve the welfare of teachers by ensuring regular payment of salaries and allowances, providing training and retraining opportunities, and ensuring a conducive work environment,” he said.
The governor noted that the state government had already cleared the backlog of salaries and pensions owed to workers and retirees.
He said his administration was committed to transparency and accountability and urged parents and other stakeholders to support the government in its efforts to reform the education sector.
Mr Adeleke also announced plans to set up a committee to monitor the implementation of the education reform agenda.
“The committee will comprise representatives of parents, teachers, civil society organizations and other stakeholders. It will monitor the progress of the education sector reform agenda and advise the government on ways to improve the sector,” he said.
The governor further disclosed that his administration had set up a scholarship scheme to support indigent but brilliant students.
“Under the scheme, 500 students will be selected from each of the nine federal constituencies in the state. The selected students will be given scholarships to cover their tuition, books and other expenses,” he said.
Mr Adeleke urged students to take advantage of the scheme and work hard to excel in their studies.
He also called on parents to encourage and support their children’s education, noting that education was the key to a brighter future.
The governor further reiterated his commitment to reforming the education sector and urged all stakeholders to join hands with his administration to achieve the set goals.
“Together, we can build a world-class education system in Osun State that will prepare our children for the challenges of the 21st century,” he said.
Mr Adeleke concluded by assuring the people of the state that his administration would leave no stone unturned in its efforts to transform the education sector.
