In a press conference held on Thursday in Abuja, the national chairman explained that losing some major states such as Lagos, Kano, Katsina, Nasarawa, and Kaduna was a natural part of democracy.
He stated that the party did not cry foul or shed tears when it lost these places because it understood the nature of democracy, where the evenness of representation is important. Senator Adamu also denied claims that the National Working Committee was only half-committed to Tinubu's campaign and didn't care about it.
The APC national chairman also highlighted that the strategic position of Lagos, in terms of location, population, economy, political history, and prestige, made the loss challenging but not unbearable.
He stated that the party was grateful to Almighty God for what it had achieved and would make up for lost ground in the March 11 governorship election.
Furthermore, Senator Adamu said that the party had learned some basic lessons from the elections, and they would do what they needed to do to ensure success in the governorship and house of assembly elections.
He thanked everyone in the party who worked to ensure that the party won and the Independent National Electoral Commission, which he said did a hard job despite being criticised.
Finally, he stated that the victory belonged to all Nigerians who collectively showed a determination to birth a new national leadership.
The victory also belonged to the security agencies who put their lives on the line to ensure the peaceful conduct of the election at all levels.
He commended the chairman and the members of INEC for their hard work and commitment to free, fair, transparent, and credible elections, despite the challenges they faced.
