Badaru presents staff to Dutse Emir
Saturday, the Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru, presented the staff of office to the new Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi. Thousands of well-wishers from Jigawa and neighbouring states witnessed the event at Aminu Kano Try-Angle, Dutse.

During the ceremony, Governor Badaru urged the new emir to follow in his father's footsteps and continue his legacy of perfect leadership. He also prayed for the late emir of Dutse Alhaji, Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, who was known for his kindness and good leadership. The governor appreciated the presence of several dignitaries, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the vice president-elect, Senator Kashim Shatima, and the former governor of Jigawa State, Dr. Sule Lamido.

In his speech, the new Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, promised to do justice and continue with the legacy his father left. He stated that he would distribute alms to poor people in all the district areas of his jurisdiction. The emir said that he would facilitate the distribution of alms collected by his late father and continue with the good things he did.

The emir also thanked all the dignitaries and well-wishers who attended the event. The ceremony marked the official installation of the new emir as the traditional ruler of Dutse Emirate.

The emir's appointment followed the death of his father, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi, who ruled for 46 years until his death in 2021. Alhaji Hameem Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and has served as a district head and a member of the Jigawa State Executive Council.

The Emir of Dutse is one of the most revered traditional rulers in northern Nigeria, with a rich history and culture. Dutse is the capital of Jigawa State and is known for its rich agricultural resources. The emirate comprises of 11 local government areas and is home to over one million people.

The installation of the new emir is expected to bring stability and progress to the emirate and the state as a whole. The emir is expected to provide leadership and guidance to his people and work closely with the government to bring development to the area.

The event was a display of culture, tradition and respect for the monarchy, as the emir was adorned in his royal regalia and presented with the staff of office. The new emir's ascension to the throne represents a continuation of a long line of distinguished traditional rulers who have served the people of Dutse with honour and distinction.
