Benue lawmaker-elect escapes assassination attempt
The Benue State House of Assembly member-elect for the Gboko-West constituency, Mr Aondona Dajoh, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on his life. According to reports, hoodlums ambushed him while driving home on the night of March 23 at Gyado Junction in the Gboko Local Government Area of the state. Mr Dajoh managed to escape, but his car was burnt by the hoodlums.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, said the command had received a report on the incident and immediately deployed a team to the scene.

She added that investigation into the matter had commenced, and the police were on the trail of the perpetrators. SP Anene called on members of the public to provide the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

Reacting to the incident, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba condemned the attack on Mr Dajoh and called on security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

He described the incident as unfortunate and urged the police to intensify efforts towards ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state. The speaker also called on the people of the Gboko-West constituency to remain calm and law-abiding while the police carry out their investigation.
