Buhari renews term of 2 federal parastatals CEOs
President Buhari has renewed the appointments of the Chief Executives of two federal parastatals. Bello Maigari was reappointed as the Executive Secretary/CEO of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) for a final term of four years, effective February 26, 2023. Dr Gambo G. Aliyu was also reappointed as Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) for a final term of four years, effective June 26, 2023. The circular from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) press and public relations department signed by Willie Bassey, Director of Information, announced the renewal of the appointments.

The President has congratulated the appointees and urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear on their duties. Maigari's reappointment was based on his performance in office while Aliyu's reappointment was based on his expertise and professionalism.

Maigari was first appointed in 2017 and has since been leading the National Lottery Trust Fund in the implementation of its mandate to provide funding for good causes. During his tenure, the NLTF has increased revenue generation and disbursed funds to various charitable organizations across the country.

Aliyu, on the other hand, was first appointed as the Director-General of NACA in 2019. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in leading the agency to achieve significant milestones in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the country. His efforts have led to increased funding and improved access to prevention and treatment services for those affected by the disease.

The renewal of the appointments is expected to provide continuity and stability in the management of the NLTF and NACA. The two parastatals are crucial in the implementation of the Federal Government's policies in their respective areas.

The NLTF, for instance, is responsible for the regulation and administration of the National Lottery and gaming activities in Nigeria. It is also tasked with providing funding for good causes such as sports development, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

NACA, on the other hand, is responsible for the coordination and management of HIV/AIDS activities in Nigeria. The agency plays a critical role in the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for HIV/AIDS, ensuring that prevention, treatment, and care services are available to those affected by the disease.

The renewal of Maigari and Aliyu's appointments is expected to ensure that the NLTF and NACA continue to function effectively in their respective roles. The appointees are expected to build on the achievements of their first tenure and implement new strategies that will improve the performance of their agencies.
