The coalition alleges that the duo of INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, and the now-declared President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have set Nigeria on the path of danger through the declaration of results of the flawed election and daring Nigerians with an open threat of “Go to Court.”
Mazi Nice Ogbonna, Pamson Dagyat, and Mazi Odumegwu Ukoha signed the petition on behalf of the coalition.
They assert that the secret plans of INEC under Mahmood Yakubu were laid to the floor at the national results collation hall following the refusal to heed the call to cancel the collation/election when the commission couldn’t defend or provide any convincing answers to any of the obvious crimes of duplicity and election malpractices allegedly committed in the process.
The coalition cited video evidence of coercion of voters, violence and threats of violence, ballot papers and boxes snatching and burning, and voter intimidation during elections in Lagos and Rivers States, etc.
They also alleged that the INEC staff failed to upload votes cast for presidential candidates against the oath of office for the use of BVAS to post election results in real-time, having spent billions of Naira to ensure electronic transmission of votes in the 2023 presidential election.
The coalition wonders if anything in Nigeria can ever work and if there could be a professor of repute in the Nigeria Political appointments. They express concerns that Nigeria has become the headquarters of evil in the whole world, and what the future of the masses and our generation unborn in Nigeria will be if the situation continues like this.
The coalition also alleged that despite all the prevailing evidence of election malpractice and the broad daylight robbery of citizens' votes and mandates, INEC still boldly announced falsified results with impunity.
In their petition addressed to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammed Buhari, the coalition copied the Inspector General of Police, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Public Complaints Commission, The Code of Conduct Bureau, Fiscal Responsibility Commission, and the National Human Rights Commission.
They demand the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in truncating a planned democratic election in Nigeria.
