Edo state gets tentative approval for Auchi Airport
Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has announced that the federal government has given tentative approval for the construction of Auchi Airport in the state's north senatorial district. The governor made the announcement during a weekend visit to Auchi, in Etsako West Local Government Area.

He revealed that the state government is working with aviation experts to finalize the survey of the airport project and expressed his commitment to the development of a new airport in Auchi. Obaseki emphasized that safety is the main consideration, and the airport must meet all necessary safety measures required for approval.

He added that the final reports and studies are currently being conducted, and as soon as the government receives final approval, construction will commence. The governor stated that the Auchi Airport project is not political, and the need for an airport in the north senatorial district arises from the transportation standpoint, making a lot of commercial sense, particularly in the areas of mining and academia.

Obaseki also noted that the project would create job opportunities for the people of Edo State, adding that his administration would work towards ensuring that the airport operates at international standards. He further urged the people to continue supporting his administration's developmental agenda.

The governor reiterated his commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state, adding that the construction of the airport would boost commerce and attract more investors to the state. According to him, the airport's proximity to emerging businesses in mining and academia would help them grow and contribute to the state's economic development.

He noted that the project would complement the state's growing infrastructure, such as the Benin River Port, the Benin Industrial Park, and the Benin-Abraka Tourist Complex. Obaseki explained that the state government is investing heavily in infrastructure to enable the private sector to thrive and drive economic growth.

The governor expressed his appreciation to the federal government for its support and urged the people of Edo State to continue to support the government's developmental initiatives. He reiterated his administration's commitment to completing ongoing projects in the state and ensuring the state's overall growth and development.
