The Mock-UTME is meant to provide candidates with hands-on experience with the system and allow the Board to assess its readiness for the main UTME scheduled to hold between April 29 to May 12, 2023.
According to the Head of Public Affairs and Protocol of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, this year's UTME will have groundbreaking innovations aimed at addressing observed infractions and centre failures. For instance, sessions that start an hour after the scheduled commencement time would be rescheduled, and no candidate would be allowed to spend less than one hour before the submission of responses during the UTME. Additionally, candidates would be notified of their new scheduled session or centre before leaving their centre.
The new regime will also make it impossible for candidates to log in after one hour of activation of the examination. If a session is cancelled or cannot hold, candidates are not to panic as they will be scheduled for the next available session, which could be that same day. Such candidates are expected to quietly leave the hall and move to the Holding Area to await further instruction.
Dr Benjamin urged candidates to ensure they comply with all necessary requirements and avoid prohibited items during the examination. He also advised them to beware of fraudsters who would try to extort money from them under the guise of assisting them to secure admission.
