The Rivers State Labour Party has endorsed the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) governorship candidate, Sir Siminialaye Fubara, ahead of Saturday's gubernatorial election.
This came as the party's standard bearer, Mrs. Beatrice Itubo, resigned.
Dienye Pepple, the party's Rivers State Chairman, announced this position today in Port Harcourt in a communique issued following the party's executive meeting.
Pepple stated that its decision was influenced by concerns about its state candidate, Mrs Beatrice Itubo.
The state party's chair stated that the party resolved to adopt Fubara, who hails from the Rivers South-East Senatorial district, noting that it is the only district that has not produced a governor.
