Katsina State Shari’a Commission Trains Clerics On Tafsir
The Katsina State Shari’a Commission has taken steps to ensure that its Islamic scholars have a greater understanding of Qur’anic exegesis (Tafsir) ahead of the upcoming Ramadan fast and beyond. According to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Commission held a training exercise for its members to stress the importance of promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among the Muslim faithful.

Dr Muhammad Abubakar, Chairman of the Commission and Grand Khadi for the state, stated that “people had been praying to Allah for good leaders during the general elections, and we have faith that Allah Has answered our prayers. We need peace more than ever; without it, nothing can be achieved.” He also expressed his belief that clerics were responsible for delivering guidance and wisdom to fellow worshippers.

The Chief Judge, Justice Musa Danladi-Abubakar, urged participants to use wisdom while delivering their Tafsir services, reminding them they would eventually be questioned regarding their religious duties come Judgement Day. Additionally, former Grand Khadi Alhaji Ahmad Batagarawa highlighted the need for scholars conducting Tafsir to possess Islamic knowledge to accurately interpret teachings from the Holy scripture. Meanwhile, former Nigerian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Isa Dodo insisted governments should work towards funding vocational training opportunities for Qur’anic school pupils to prevent such children from relying on the street begging.

Undoubtedly, this important initiative by the Katsina State Shari’a Commission committedly provides Islamic scholars with the necessary information required to promote religious unity within Nigeria’s populous faith system and help foster an environment conducive to healthy spiritual practices during Ramadan fast and onwards.
