The Kwara State Government orders temporary closure of Mandate Market in Ilorin due to Saturday morning skirmishes. The market will be reopened on Monday after resolution of the issues that triggered the disturbances.

The Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Mallam Ibrahim Akaje, warns against further trouble from any quarters, stating that the market and its activities are regulated by laws that must be respected by all.

The government commends the security agencies' prompt response to distress calls and assures the public of its commitment to ensuring safety and security in the state.

The statement emphasises the need to maintain peace and stability in the state and calls on all stakeholders to work together to achieve this goal. The Mandate Market, one of the major trading centers in Ilorin, will remain closed till Monday from 8a.m.

The shutdown is necessary for security reasons, pending the resolution of pending issues that triggered the disturbances. The government urges all residents to comply with the directives and avoid any action that could lead to a breach of peace.

The government also reassures the public of its commitment to ensuring the protection of lives and property in the state.
