Man robbed of N97,000 found unconscious in Jigawa
A man was found unconscious by the roadside in Kiyawa Local Government Area on Monday, with a cable tightened around his neck and bleeding from his mouth. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) received a distress call from Malam Wadari, Ward Head of Mabara, who reported the incident.

The man, identified as Umar Ibrahim, aged 58 and a resident of Sarari village, Sakwaya, Dutse Local Government Area in Jigawa State, was on his way to make purchases at Shuwarin Market.

Upon arriving at the scene, NSCDC Medical Team discovered that the victim had been suffocated by the cable around his neck. He was immediately rushed to Dutse General Hospital for proper medical attention.

After regaining consciousness, the victim revealed that he had boarded a taxi with three other passengers from Takur Adduah Quarters in Dutse Metropolis, and was in possession of N97,000 meant for purchases at the market.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Musa Alhaji Malah, urged the general public to desist from boarding taxis outside designated motor parks to avoid such occurrences. He also promised to collaborate with other law-enforcement agencies to apprehend the culprits responsible for the abduction and robbery of Mr Ibrahim.

The incident has raised concerns among residents of Jigawa State, who have expressed fears for their safety while going about their daily activities. Many are calling on the government to step up efforts in providing adequate security measures to protect citizens.

In response to the incident, the Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation to apprehend the culprits. The spokesperson for the Command, DSP Abdul Jinjiri, said that efforts were being made to track down the suspects and bring them to justice.

Meanwhile, the victim, Mr Ibrahim, is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. His family and friends have expressed gratitude to the NSCDC for their swift response and prompt intervention in saving his life.

They also appealed to the government to ensure the safety of citizens, particularly while going about their daily activities.
