In a statement issued by his media aide, Obaseki expressed his deep sympathy to the families of those who lost their loved ones and prayed for the repose of their souls. He also wished those who have been injured a quick recovery.
“We are saddened by the news of the accident involving a train and the Lagos State Government staff bus in the Oshodi area of the state. It is unfortunate and sad. Our prayers are with the families of the deceased. We pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We also pray for quick recovery of those who suffered injuries in the sad incident,” he said.
The governor further commended the efforts of the Lagos State Government in promptly responding to the incident and providing medical care to the victims. He urged the government to take necessary measures to prevent such occurrences.
Obaseki also appealed to Nigerians to exercise caution and adhere strictly to safety rules and regulations, particularly when using public transportation.
The accident occurred when a train collided with a bus conveying staff of the Lagos State Government. The incident resulted in the death of at least three people, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The Lagos State Government has promised to investigate the cause of the accident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
