NNPP Governorship candidate votes despite 'threat'
Despite the attack on his family house by hoodlums on the eve of the Oyo state governorship election, the candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Popoola John Kayode, has cast his vote. He exercised his franchise at his polling unit, Unit 1, Ward 10, Oke Offa, Elero Meta area of Ibadan around 11:35 am.

In an interview with journalists, Popoola John Kayode expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election. He praised the early arrival of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials at the polling unit and commended the security situation despite the attack on his family house.

It would be recalled that on Friday night, some hoodlums attacked the candidate's family house in Ibadan, destroying property and causing panic in the neighbourhood. However, the NNPP candidate did not allow the incident to deter him from performing his civic duty.

He urged his supporters to come out en masse to vote for him and his party, promising to deliver good governance if elected. He also called on security agencies to ensure that the election is free, fair, and peaceful, and to arrest anyone who tries to disrupt the process.

The Oyo state governorship election is keenly contested by 14 candidates from different political parties, including the incumbent governor, Seyi Makinde of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Adebayo Adelabu.

As of the time of this report, voting is still ongoing in various parts of the state, and the security agencies have assured the electorate of their safety. The outcome of the election is expected to have far-reaching implications for the political landscape of the state and the country at large.
