Oyo Speaker, Debo Ogundoyin, Wins Ibarapa East State Constituency
Debo Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, has been declared the winner of the Ibarapa East State Constituency election. The Returning Officer for the constituency, Prof. John Oladeji, announced that Ogundoyin, who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 10,039 votes, defeating his closest rival, Adeolu Aderounmu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 7,111 votes. Another candidate, Olubayo Oladeni, scored 2,724 votes.

In his response, Ogundoyin appreciated his constituents for electing him and promised to represent them well and ensure good governance in the state. Waheed Akintayo, another PDP candidate for Oluyole State Constituency, has also been declared the winner of the assembly election. The PDP candidate polled 19,334 votes, defeating all other candidates in the election.

The successful reelection of Ogundoyin and Akintayo was seen as a validation of the PDP's performance in the state. The party is hoping to maintain its stronghold in the state as it contests other political positions in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commended the peaceful conduct of the election in the state, despite pockets of violence reported in some parts of the state. The commission also commended the security personnel deployed to maintain law and order during the exercise.

INEC assured that the results from other constituencies would be announced as soon as they were collated and verified. The commission urged all stakeholders to maintain peace and abide by the electoral guidelines during the collation of results in the remaining constituencies.
