In a statement released on Wednesday, Alhaji Kabir Yusuf-Yar’adu, the PDP campaign media committee chairman, described the press release announcing the withdrawal as fake and untrue.
Yusuf-Yar’adu stated that Dr Mustapha Inuwa, the director of the PDP campaign candidate, had not endorsed any letter carrying the party's letterhead.
He added that the PDP campaign council has its own headed paper on which it issues press releases and urged people of the state to disregard the fake press release.
According to Yusuf-Yar’adu, the fake press release was an attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to discredit the PDP gubernatorial candidate, who is gaining popularity among the electorate. He reiterated that Sen Yakubu Lado-Danmarke is still in the race and has received support from various quarters.
He revealed that the PDP gubernatorial candidate had received hundreds of Labour Party loyalists who intend to support him and academic and non-academic staff of tertiary institutions in the state who pledged their support.
Yusuf-Yar’adu urged the people of Katsina State to disregard the fake press release and support the PDP candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
