Speaking to journalists in the state's capital, Uyo, Mr Borono Bassey, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state, said that the PDP's candidate for governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, would still win the election even if the YPP and APC worked together.
Mr Bassey dismissed the alleged alliance between the YPP and the APC as a plot that would not stop the PDP candidate from winning the governor's seat in next week's elections. He noted that the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) show that the PDP won more than 90% of the seats in the National Assembly in the state's presidential and National Assembly elections last Saturday.
Mr Bassey argued that the polls were not decisive in several units where the APC was proclaimed the winner and that the PDP's support in the state is still substantial.
He emphasised that the PDP sees the people's communication of trust as a burden to keep their side of the social contract so that the elected officials understand that the mandate that the people handed down to them places on them the concomitant responsibility of ensuring they allow the collective will of the people to become their compass that leads them and finds their engagement interface and representation while in office.
He reiterated the PDP's confidence in Pastor Umo Eno, stating that he is the state's most acceptable and credible candidate and would emerge victorious in the March 11 governorship election.
