Ramadan: Cleric Urges CBN to Release More Naira Notes
Sheikh Yahya Al-Yolawi, the Chief of Nurul Yaqeen Jumma’at Mosque Life Camp, Abuja, has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ensure the release of more redesigned naira notes ahead of the forthcoming Ramadan period.

In his Jumma’at Sermon, titled “the Significance of Ramadan Fast: Health, Spiritual, Social and Psychological Benefits of Ramadan Fast,” the cleric noted that Muslims spend more money during Ramadan on food items and other charitable activities. This usually comes from carefully examining, budgeting, and planning how to spend their money.

Al-Yolawi emphasised that accessibility to cash in and outflow of individuals and organisations is essential in the business world, and keeping that spirit even after Ramadan is very crucial to the growth and development of companies. He urged the Federal Government and the CBN to release more cash to the country as Ramadan is fast approaching, adding that people need money for Ramadan expenses and other activities.

The cleric further revealed that the mosque would roll out a series of Ramadan activities, starting from Taraweeh, Tahajjud, Tafseer, and daily feeding programs to cater to over 200 Muslims daily. He called on those who wished to support the feeding program with food items to donate to the worship centre or send cash donations via its bank account number.

Al-Yolawi explained that Ramadan is a period of fasting, reflection, devotion, generosity, and sacrifice by all Muslims worldwide to observe one of the five pillars of Islam. He highlighted the significance and benefits of fasting to a believer, stating that the number of mercies and blessings of Allah towards a Muslim community throughout the month cannot be overemphasised.

The cleric further urged Muslims to abstain from loose, avoid evil talks, and the noisy exchange of words while fasting. He advised that if somebody starts abusing or picking up a quarrel with a fasting Muslim, he should tell the abuser that he is observing a fast.
