A close associate of Musa disclosed that he will declare his ambition whenever the All Progressives Congress (APC) zones the various presiding and principal offices.
The source expressed hope that the APC would zone the Senate Presidency to the North Central geopolitical zone and the party’s National Chairman, Senator Adamu Abdullahi, would not work against zoning the Senate Presidency to the North Central area.
According to the associate, Musa is interested in the Senate Presidency if the office is zoned to the North Central zone. Abdullahi would not mind sacrificing his appointment to promote Musa’s emergence. The source also stated that Musa would contest for the position of Deputy Senate President if the party fails to zone the office to the North Central zone.
The source denied any clash of interest between Musa and the incumbent Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, who is his friend and leader, stating that Lawan and Musa are from different zones. Other contestants eyeing the top position include Senators Orji Uzor Kalu, Godswill Akpabio, Barau Jibrin, Abdulaziz Yari, David Umahi, and Adams Oshiomhole.
Musa is among the most popular senators in the 9th Assembly due to his commitment to his colleagues, with whom he interacts virtually daily. He is popularly known as “313” among his colleagues.
He was almost made the National Chairman of the APC before President Buhari and other party leaders appealed to aspirants to step down for Senator Adamu Abdullahi. Investigations by our correspondent revealed that Musa was the favoured candidate of Asiwaju Tinubu for the APC National Chairmanship.
