Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has appealed to the Abia electorate to vote for the Governorship Candidate of APGA, Prof. Gregory Ibe, in honour of its founder, late Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu. He made the appeal while speaking on the chances of APGA to win the governorship election on Saturday. According to Abaribe, APGA is the party that Ndigbo can trust, being the party that Ojukwu bequeathed Ndigbo and it is the party that takes the interest of Ndigbo at heart.
Abaribe said that having won his two cases at the Supreme Court, the electorate would not hesitate to vote massively for the party’s governorship candidate. He urged the people of Abia South to come out and vote for APGA.
Abaribe, who was re-elected on the platform of APGA, emphasized that Gregory Ibe had won the two Supreme Court suits so he is free and he does not think that the people are still bothered.
Meanwhile, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Abia, Dr Joseph Iloh, has assured that the commission is ready for the forthcoming Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Abia State. He made this known while addressing journalists in Umuahia. Dr Iloh said that the commission was fully prepared to conduct the elections, adding that sensitive and non-sensitive materials have been received and dispatched to the various local government areas of the state.
The Commissioner also disclosed that the ad hoc staff for the elections, who have undergone several trainings, have been mobilized to their various duty posts. He assured that the commission will conduct a free, fair and credible election in the state. Dr Iloh urged the electorate to come out en masse to exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation, saying that the security agencies have been briefed on their role in ensuring a hitch-free exercise.
As Abians prepare for the election, it is important for all eligible voters to come out en masse and vote for their preferred candidate. The election is an opportunity for the people to exercise their civic duty by voting for the candidate of their choice. All the parties have been urged to maintain peace before, during and after the election, and the security agencies have also been called upon to ensure that the exercise is peaceful and devoid of any form of violence.
