Tinubu Taunts Obi and Atiku, Urges Democrats to Accept Defeat
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria's President-elect, has called on all democrats to tolerate defeat, regardless of how provocative it may be. Tinubu made this statement in response to the reactions of Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who called for a cancellation of the election while collation was underway, alleging that the process had been manipulated due to the non-use of BVAS.

Speaking to State House reporters after a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in his country home of Daura, Katsina State, Tinubu said that nation-building ought to be paramount to democrats. He also commended the President for his support of democracy in Africa, adding that he was building a successor and was ready to hand over peacefully.

During the visit, Tinubu presented Buhari with his certificate of return as the party leader and commended his efforts in supporting democracy in Africa, stating that Nigeria is the largest democracy in Africa and that Buhari has done an excellent job. Tinubu also identified the calmness and commitment of the President and the fact that he was ready to create a future for all Nigerians.

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said that there were jubilant scenes at the home of President Buhari on Wednesday evening when the President-elect and the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, made a triumphal entry into Buhari’s residence in Daura, each brandishing their certificates of return.

President Buhari expressed his pleasure that the people had chosen the APC and its candidates, affirming that this showed their desire for the momentum of development to continue under his administration. He also commended the party supporters and the Presidential Campaign Council for their hard work and commitment, which he said made the historic win possible.

The election winner and his deputy were accompanied to Daura by the Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the founding chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, as well as several Governors and former Governors of various Nigerian states, and Ministers of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare and Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
