The former two-term member of the House of Representatives, who was elected on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), said that the appointments would also serve as a reward and motivation for those who worked to ensure that he won the election. He emphasized that he would redouble his efforts to provide quality representation for the people of Nasarawa West, promising to respond to all their developmental needs as a responsive leader.
Mr Wadada's Senatorial district comprises five local government areas, including Kokona, Keffi, Karu, Nasarawa, and Toto. The Senator-elect said that he was not new to the style of leadership that his constituents expected of him, having served as their representative in the House of Representatives 12 years ago. He promised to improve upon his past performance by giving more qualitative representation to his people.
During the meeting, Mr Wadada thanked his supporters and campaign team for their contributions to his victory in the recent Presidential and National Assembly elections. He said that he was indebted to them and would do everything possible to reward their hard work. He also urged them to continue to support him in his efforts to bring development to Nasarawa West.
The Senator-elect stressed that his decision to appoint Special Assistants across all the wards of his Senatorial district was not a political gimmick but a genuine effort to ensure that his constituents had a say in the governance process. He said that he would work closely with the Special Assistants to identify the needs of their wards and find ways to address them.
Mr Wadada also used the occasion to restate his commitment to the principles of democracy and the rule of law. He said that he would work tirelessly to ensure that the rights and freedoms of his constituents were protected and that they had a voice in the affairs of the country. He urged all Nigerians to support the government in its efforts to move the country forward, saying that unity and cooperation were essential for national development.
The Senator-elect appealed to his opponents and critics to join hands with him in the task of nation-building, saying that politics should not be a do-or-die affair. He called on all political actors to conduct themselves with decorum and respect for the law, saying that violence and intimidation had no place in a civilized society.
