Speaking to journalists in Lokoja on Saturday, Fanwo emphasized the need for responsible communication from all parties involved in the political process. He commended the media for giving all individuals the opportunity to air their views but cautioned against dangerous misinformation.
"The world saw the primary on television and on other media platforms. The primary didn’t only hold, it was free, fair and credible", Fanwo said, responding to Adeyemi's allegations that the primary was rigged. "We have always been here with Senator Smart Adeyemi and with all due respect, his own definition of a credible election is one won by him. Any other election not won by him is not credible as far as he is concerned."
Fanwo also addressed Adeyemi's accusations that Alh. Ahmed Ododo was unjustly fielded for the Governorship Primary due to his family and ward connections to the Governor. "To set the record straight, Alh. Usman Ododo doesn’t share the same family with the Governor. They are not from the same Ward and they even belong to different state constituencies", Fanwo clarified. "Assuming but not conceding to the fact that he shares the same Ward with the Governor, does that render him legally incapable of vying for the ticket of the party?"
Fanwo accused Adeyemi of attempting to incite the people of Kogi West against the Governor and the APC leadership and called for responsible leadership that upholds equity and justice. "The same Smart Adeyemi had told the world the laudable projects of the Governor in Kogi West. Why is he turning around now to accuse the Governor of ethnic bias", Fanwo asked.
Despite the ongoing legal challenge to the Governorship Primary, Fanwo said that the APC was not concerned about the outcome, as the party had followed due process in its selection of candidates. "Our party has a constitution and it was followed in the entire process", he stated. "We are moving forward to consolidate our support ahead of the November 11 poll."
Fanwo called on APC members to remain focused and united in their efforts to maintain the party's political dominance in Kogi State. "Our party has a strong record of delivering progress and development to the people of Kogi State, and we must continue to work hard to uphold this legacy", he concluded.
