The party's Acting National Secretary, Obiorah Ifoh, responded to Buhari's statement that "overconfidence, complacency and bad tactical moves created problems for the opposition in the election" by declaring it to be false and not a true reflection of what actually happened during the election.
Ifoh stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to follow the electoral act by not uploading results from the polling unit in real time, which created room for the election to be rigged. He also claimed that the election was manipulated and rigged beyond comprehension, resulting in APC rigging itself into power. The party reminded Buhari of the magnitude of violence, ballot snatching, and manipulation of results that occurred during the election.
The Labour Party also claimed that the 2023 general election was the worst ever in the country's history, with violence characterising the election from Lagos to Rivers, and from the north to southern parts of the country. The party further accused the ruling party of colluding with various government agencies to rig the election, using security agencies, including the police and army, as well as thugs to manipulate the results in favour of the APC.
Ifoh accused Buhari of being ill-advised and completely wrong, stating that the President promised Nigerians a free, fair, and credible election but failed to deliver. The party insisted that the APC did not win the election and that it was stolen from them.
The Peoples Democratic Party had earlier called on the international community to impose a visa ban on the Nigerian leader in response to his comments. The opposition parties are still demanding an investigation into the election and seeking redress in court. It remains to be seen what action the international community will take regarding the allegations of electoral fraud.
