The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) intercepted two drug consignments containing ecstasy and skunk, which were going to the United Arab Emirates.
The NDLEA officers attached to courier companies made the interception, according to Mr Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesman.
He revealed that ecstasy pills were hidden in a gold colour wedding gown, while the skunk was concealed in a microcontroller.
Meanwhile, in Amassoma, Bayelsa State, a 400-level Marine Engineering student at Niger Delta University, Kelvin Ogenedoro, was arrested for dealing in 600grams of skunk.
The suspect was caught at the university's gate in a follow-up operation after the interception of the consignment in a commercial bus along Tombia-Amassoma road.
In Adamawa State, a notorious drug dealer, Ishaku Emzor, who was convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in 2010 for drug offences, was arrested on Thursday 20th April for drug dealing.
He was caught at Hayin Gada, Imburu Numan LGA, where he went to supply 1.650kg cannabis to an undercover operative.
His Yellow Press Cub motorcycle used for supplying illicit drugs was recovered, and a cash of N78,120 suspected to be proceeds of the illegal business were also seized from him.
On the same day in Kaduna, operatives acting on credible intelligence intercepted a truck conveying 110 bags and 200 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa in Zaria.
The drugs weighed 1,223kg, and the truck driver, Adekunle Olanrewaju, 32, and his assistant, Tunde Jamiu, 20, were arrested.
The NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, commended the officers for their efforts and urged them to sustain the tempo in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
He called on Nigerians to support the agency by providing useful information on drug dealers and their activities, emphasising that drug abuse and trafficking pose a significant threat to national development.
