Sen. Wamakko dedicates victory in Sokoto North to electorates
Sen. Aliyu Wamakko of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Sokoto North Senatorial supplementary election. Wamakko won his third term bid with 141,448 votes, defeating the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Alhaji Munir Dan’Iya, who polled 118,445 votes. In his victory speech, Wamakko appreciated the people of Sokoto State and assured them of his commitment to delivering good governance. "APC is the party recognised by the people of Sokoto State and Nigeria, as such we want to assure you that your sacrifices and show of love will never be compromised,” he said.

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the PDP was also declared the winner of the Senatorial supplementary election for Sokoto South district. Tambuwal polled 100,860 votes to defeat the APC candidate and incumbent Sen. Danbaba Dambuwa who scored 95,884 votes. The PDP in Sokoto State has felicitated with Tambuwal and all other flag bearers of the party, expressing gratitude to God for the victories recorded by the party.

With the election results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, the APC won the governorship seat and 20 seats out of the 30 seats in the House of Assembly. It also won two senatorial seats and eight seats out of 11 House of Representatives seats. The PDP won 10 House of Assembly seats, one senatorial seat, and three House of Representatives seats.

The election has been commended for its peaceful conduct, and INEC has been lauded for its transparency and professionalism. However, there have been reports of voter intimidation and harassment in some polling units. INEC officials have urged all aggrieved parties to seek legal redress if they have any complaints regarding the election.

Sokoto State has been a stronghold of the PDP, and the APC's victory is seen as a significant shift in the state's political landscape. The election results are expected to shape the state's political future and impact the 2023 general elections.

As the newly-elected leaders prepare to assume their offices, they have been urged to prioritize the welfare and development of their constituents. The people of Sokoto State are looking forward to a new era of good governance and progress.
