Cult clash claims one life in Delta
A suspected cult clash in Ughelli, Delta State, has left one person dead. The victim's identity is yet to be confirmed, but eyewitnesses reported seeing the victim lying in a pool of blood in the Otovwodo area of the city. The police were alerted and upon arrival, confirmed the incident as a result of a cult clash. DSP Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer of the State Command, confirmed the event and said further investigations were ongoing to identify those responsible for the fatal attack.

The incident has caused panic in the area, as residents fear the possibility of more clashes between rival cult groups. The police have assured the public that measures are being taken to maintain law and order in the area.

Speaking on the incident, a community leader who preferred anonymity expressed concern over the spate of cult clashes in the area. "This is becoming too frequent, and it's worrisome. The government and security agencies need to do more to curb the menace of cultism in our community," he said.

According to reports, cult clashes are a common occurrence in Ughelli, with several lives lost in recent years. The state government has been called upon to take decisive action to address the issue and bring perpetrators to justice.

Reacting to the incident, the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, called on security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of citizens in the state. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, the governor urged residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The governor also reiterated the state government's commitment to tackling cultism and other forms of criminal activities in the state. "We will not rest until our state is free of cult activities and other forms of criminality. We will continue to work with the security agencies to ensure the safety of our citizens," he said.

Meanwhile, the police have assured the public that they will leave no stone unturned in their efforts to bring those responsible for the attack to justice. The State Commissioner of Police, Ali Mohammed, urged residents to remain calm and provide information that could assist in the investigations.

The incident has once again brought to the fore the issue of cultism in Delta State, with calls for concerted efforts by all stakeholders to address the problem. It is hoped that the government and security agencies will take decisive action to put an end to the menace of cultism in the state.
