Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the occurrence in Abeokuta. The accident took place at 4:53 a.m. and involved a Lexus RX 350 with the registration number KTU 738 HM and a Mack truck bearing the registration number T 21024 LA.
According to Ms Okpe, the accident was a result of excessive speed and the use of mobile phones while driving. Such dangerous behaviours on the road can have severe consequences.
The bodies of the deceased individuals have been deposited at the Real Divine Hospital morgue in Ibafo.
Ahmed Umar, the sector commander, issued a cautionary statement urging motorists to refrain from using their phones while driving and emphasised the associated risks.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and advised them to reach out to the FRSC Ibafo command for further information regarding the crash.
