Oluremi Tinubu: Among Nigeria's Oldest First Ladies

Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President-elect Bola Asiwaju Tinubu, expressed her gratitude and highlighted her unique position as one of the oldest first ladies in Nigeria's history. Speaking during the presidential inauguration interdenominational church service in Abuja, Senator Tinubu acknowledged the unexpected nature of her husband's victory in the February 25 presidential poll and emphasized the importance of divine grace and collective effort in fulfilling their responsibilities.

"We never believed that this could happen, but we thank God for giving us hope," Senator Tinubu stated. Referring to her husband's age, she affirmed, "Asiwaju is 71, and I will be 63. I bet I will be one of the oldest first ladies Nigeria has had. We need the grace of God and everyone to do what they are expected to do."

Expressing gratitude for the divine intervention that has accompanied their political journey, Senator Tinubu recalled previous instances when God had shown His favor, such as during the primaries. She emphasized that the present moment in Nigeria's history calls for collective efforts and a striving for perfection.

"Today, God has really proved himself, as he did on the night of the primaries and put his seal on it. It is a time for perfection in Nigeria," she affirmed.

As the wife of the President-elect, Senator Tinubu recognized the responsibilities that lay ahead and the need for divine guidance and support. She encouraged all Nigerians to play their part in the development and progress of the country, emphasizing the importance of collective effort.

The interdenominational church service, held at the National Christian Centre, served as an occasion for prayer, thanksgiving, and reflection on the journey that had brought the Tinubu family to this point. The service provided an opportunity to seek divine blessings and guidance for the upcoming presidential tenure.

The presence of Oluremi Tinubu at the service demonstrated her commitment to her husband's vision for the nation and her role as a supportive partner. Her acknowledgment of her position as one of the oldest first ladies showcased her humility and recognition of the historical significance of this moment.
