The Ebonyi State Police Command has issued a stern warning, stating that it will not tolerate any form of protests or disruptions during the inauguration of the new governor on May 29. The command emphasized that aggrieved politicians should seek justice through the appropriate legal channels, such as the election petition tribunal.

In a statement released by the command's spokesperson, Onome Onovwakpoyeya, Police Commissioner Olawale Faleye reiterated the commitment to ensuring security during the inauguration ceremony. He urged individuals to abide by the law and refrain from engaging in any form of protest.

"We are ready to ensure security, and we will not tolerate any form of protest, and I urge you to be law-abiding," stated Mr. Faleye. He further advised members of political parties to avoid violence and instead have confidence in the judicial process. He emphasized that waiting for the tribunal's verdict on the cases currently in court is the appropriate course of action.

The police commissioner made it clear that the police would take decisive action against any individuals or groups deliberately causing a breakdown of law and order. The maintenance of peace and security is of utmost importance, especially during such significant events.

The public was also urged to act responsibly and maintain law and order not only during the inauguration but also in the period following it. Mr. Olaleye, assuring the public, stated that the police personnel are fully prepared and committed to ensuring the protection of lives and property.

As the date for the inauguration approaches, the Ebonyi State Police Command's warning serves as a reminder to the public and political actors to uphold the rule of law and seek legal remedies for any grievances. The command's commitment to maintaining peace and security underscores the importance of a peaceful transition of power and the need for all parties to respect the law and the judicial process.

It is essential for all individuals and groups to adhere to the directives of the police and exercise restraint, as any breach of peace could have serious consequences. The police play a crucial role in maintaining law and order, and their vigilance and readiness to respond to any security threats should be commended.

The upcoming inauguration represents a new chapter in the governance of Ebonyi State, and it is imperative that all stakeholders work together to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition. By adhering to the law and respecting the outcomes of the judicial process, politicians and the public can contribute to a positive and stable political environment in the state.

As the police command takes steps to secure the inauguration venue and its surroundings, it is expected that all citizens will cooperate and support these efforts. The collective commitment to upholding the rule of law will not only ensure the success of the inauguration but also contribute to the overall development and progress of Ebonyi State.
